Design Lead

Libraries are some of North America's architectural marvels-gorgeous, carefully thought-through spaces for learning. It's time the online spaces for libraries lived up to their physical counterparts, and that's where you come in.

As Design Lead at BiblioCommons, you will foster a design-focused culture while working cross-functionally with our product and engineering leadership on vision and strategy. Libraries are unique, and our software needs to be accessible to a wide range of users including folks who are differently-abled, have low literacy, or are less technically adept.

How you'll make an impact:

  • Lead a small team of designers through collaboration and feedback
  • Partner cross-functionally with product managers, designers and engineers to make designs a reality through agile iterations
  • Ship beautifully designed products that solve complex user needs
  • Advocate for design thinking across the company
  • Lead by example as a strong individual contributor

What you bring:

  • 7+ years of working experience as a UX designer, and a strong portfolio to match
  • Proven track record of design leadership, preferably within a software company, with experience mentoring employees at different skill levels
  • A pragmatic design approach and the ability to empathize with our diverse user base
  • In depth knowledge of fundamental design principles
  • Strong sense for visual design and crafting elegant solutions to complex workflows
